Neoral is a brand name for cyclosporine, a potent immunosuppressant drug that is used to treat various medical conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and psoriasis and to prevent organ rejection in people who have received a liver, kidney, or heart transplant.
Use and Dosage
Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually twice daily. You may take this medication with or without food, but it is important to choose one way and take this medication the same way with every dose.
The dosage is based on your weight, medical condition, lab tests, and response to treatment.
Avoid eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice while using this medication unless your doctor or pharmacist says you may do so safely. Grapefruit can increase the chance of side effects with this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details.

Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
- Change in your mental state, problems with speech or walking, or decreased vision (may start gradually and get worse quickly)
- Easy bruising, unusual bleeding (nose, mouth, vagina, or rectum), or purple or red pinpoint spots under your skin
- Pale or yellowed skin, dark-colored urine, fever, confusion, or weakness
- Dangerously high blood pressure–severe headache, blurred vision, pounding in your neck or ears, nosebleed, anxiety, confusion, severe chest pain, shortness of breath, or irregular heartbeats
- High potassium–nausea, slow or unusual heart rate, weakness, or loss of movement
- Kidney problems–little or no urinating, painful or difficult urination, swelling in your feet or ankles, or feeling tired or short of breath
- Liver problems–nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, tired feeling, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
- Signs of infection–fever, chills, flu-like symptoms, mouth sores, skin sores, feeling light-headed or short of breath, or rapid heart rate
