Indications

Minipress is a blood pressure medication used to treat arterial hypertension (high blood pressure) and congestive heart failure.

This antihypertensive medication is generally well-tolerated and offers effective treatment for those with mild to severe high blood pressure. Minipress has been associated with postural hypotension after the first dose, but this can be avoided by taking low initial doses.

Uses and Dosage

The dose of Minipress prescribed will vary depending on the individual being treated. Always follow your doctor’s instructions and read packaging labels carefully.

  • Swallow tablets whole
  • Take with or without food
  • Adults should take an initial dose of 1mg two or three times a day
  • For monotherapy maintenance, doses can slowly increase to 20mg divided daily
  • Most doses range from 6 to 15mg daily but some can benefit from up to 40mg daily
  • When used with other drugs, doses should reduce to 1 or 2mg three times a day
  • Continue taking Minipress as directed even if you feel well
  • Your blood pressure should be checked frequently
  • Minipress may cause dizziness, especially when first taking it or when your dose changes
  • Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat
