Amaryl is an oral diabetes medication used to improve blood sugar control in those with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea drug that increases your body’s release of insulin. The medication does this by stimulating pancreatic different channels and receptors to support the secretion and absorption of insulin.

Uses and Dosage

The dose of Amaryl prescribed will vary depending on the individual being treated. Always follow your doctor’s instructions and read packaging.

  • Take with breakfast each day
  • Swallow tablet whole

  • Adults should not take more than 8mg once a day

Amaryl may increase your risk for having serious heart problems, but leaving your diabetes untreated can also lead to heart damage.

Glimepiride may not work as effectively when taking at the same time as other medications.
